Brief

The aim of the project was to develop a new application for smartphones.

Framework

Our main goal was to assist people traveling on foot and exploring towns, cities and public spaces. We wish to provide an augmented reality experience which maps audio layers on top of the existing environment making it more rich and alive with information and comments. Our service act as a guide and personal friend helping the user discover more of the environment and the people around.

Project Description

TravelNET is intended for tourists and visitors of an area as an aid for exploration and discovery. The applcation gives the user access to audio content recorded in the area by a local resident or a fellow tourist from the past or present. These persona act as mentors and guides who provide information and suggestions which make an area more alive and appealing.

Project Details

The service alerts users about nearby sites that might be of interest. It allows the user to listen to a short audio description about the place which can help the user decide which areas he wants to visit.
Users can choose the guide and audio content that they wish to follow.
They can rate guide that they use according to quality and enjoyment, providing feedback for other users.
Users can record and upload their own guides and suggestions to the system in order to benefit future explorers.
