That’s Alcohol
Group David Boardman, Roberto Pansolli, Peter Knocke Brief In 2007 Domus Academy has organized a contest in order to select the more talented students and allow them to exhibit their ideas at the “That’s Design” exhibition. The topic of the exhibition was about “surprise”, and we had the constrains to build something that would have been placed inside a 40 cm wooden box. Project detail Interactive installation developed for the ‘That’s Design’ portion of Salone del Mobile 2007 to point out the frequency of drunk visitors to the event. When a visitor blows, a breathalyzer detects how much alcohol the visitor has consumed. The puppets will then fall proportionally to how drunk the visitor is.
The system contains an Alcohol Sensor that detects the Alcohol Level of the user breathe. The data is collected in real-time by an Arduino board that controls analogically a servo-motor depending on the drunkenness detected. Finally, the servo-motor moves the string-puppets depending on level of drunkenness. Design Process This project has been developed in 2 weeks following next steps; - Concept Generation - Several Prototypes and Test - Final Prototype - Exhibition at Furniture Fair in Milan - Prototype Refinement - Exhibition at “Rome Design +”
